Our custom busbar products

Solid busbars optimise simplicity, conductivity and cost for multiple robust interconnections between components and cables. Formed, insulated, fitted with inserts and layered, they can combine mechanical support, electrical connection and thermal conduction in integrated power systems.

• Solid metal is the simplest conduit for electric currents and maximises current-carrying capacity through intrinsic bulk-to-surface thermal conductance.
• Copper has significantly higher mass-density and cost but better conductivity for a given volume. It also has higher temperature capability and is readily electroplated for optimum surface properties and corrosion resistance.
• Aluminium is the lightest weight and most economic choice available, but care is needed to prevent corrosion-problems in contact-resistance and longevity; electroplating requires specialised processes.
• LML has extensive facilities for manufacturing busbars of all sizes to detailed drawings or outline designs.
• Busbars can also be designed and built to your concept, model or sample.
• We can assist with calculations and tests to verify detailed requirements for any proposal.
• Standard products are available for Earth-Bars and other applications.
• Insulation can be applied by sleeving, laminated-film or coating.
• High-frequency (≥10kHz) or pulse (≤100µS) applications impose skin-depth and proximity effect conductance limitations which can only be resolved with inter-laminated conductors or litzen-drehen (strands-rotating) wires. Please request further advice on this.
